The Pilot’s Wife

I’ve read a couple of books by Anita Shreve and I have to say I really like the way she writes.
Today I’m going to talk with you about The Pilot’s Wife.
Kathryn, the main character, has a good life. A husband she loves, Jack, and a teenage daughter, Mattie.
Her life is suddenly destroyed when Jack, a pilot, dies in a plane accident.
Losing the love of her life is not the only bad thing.
Suddenly, all kind of accusations about her husband come up, maybe the accident wasn’t really an accident, and she realizes that she didn’t really know him.
I loved the character of Mattie, an independent 15 years old, she’s particularly well described in my opinion.
At first, I thought this book was really too *slow* but it becomes more and more involving, I personally HAD to finish it as soon as possible when I reached a certain point, I just had to know.
Have you ever read something by Anita Shreve?

La moglie del pilota di Anita Shreve.
Ho letto un paio di libri di questa autrice e devo dire che mi piace molto il modo in cui scrive, i suoi libri scorrono facilmente e li trovo particolarmente piacevoli, sebbene i temi trattati a volte siano tutt’altro che piacevoli.
Oggi vi parlero della moglie del pilota.
Kathryn, la protagonista, ha una bella vita, una vita felice. Una vita fatta di un marito che ama, Jack, e una figlia adolescente, Mattie.
La vita della protagonista è all’improvviso distrutta quando Jack, un pilota, muore in un incidente aereo.
Perdere l’amore della sua vita non è l’unica cosa che deve affrontare.
Vengono rivolte delle accuse al marito, l’incidente forse non era davvero un incidente, e Kathryn si rende conto che suo marito non era la persona che credeva di conoscere.
Ho particolarmente amato il personaggio di Mattie, una quindicenne super indipendente in cui non mi riconosco per nulla purtroppo, è particolarmente ben caratterizzata.
Il libro inizia molto lentamente, fin troppo secondo me, ma diventa sempre più coinvolgente.
Personalmente arrivata ad un certo punto ho dovuto  finirlo il prima possibile, dovevo sapere.
