Books: The Truth About Melody Browne

I found this book a couple of years ago as a gift with a magazine. I wasn’t really interested in it.
But a couple of weeks ago I wanted to read something fun-light so I picked this from my pile of unread books.

Io questo l’ho trovato un paio d’anni fa come regalo con una rivista inglese. Non mi attirava granché onestamente e l’ho abbandonato.
Un paio di settimane fa, però, volevo leggere qualcosa di divertente e leggero quindi l’ho pescato dalla mia pila di libri non ancora letti.



I have to say I had the wrong idea about this book.
Yes, it’s not a life-changing book, it’s not a classical read but it’s still more of the average chick-lit based on heels and clothes.
The main character is Melody, an average woman who works as a dinner lady and has an 18 years old son that she had when she was a teenager.
She seems quite mediocre, there’s nothing peculiar or interesting in her life.
Everything changes when she has a strange experience with an hypnotist, she starts to remember all kind of weird things about her childhood.
A lot of tragic events happened in Melody’s life but she doesn’t remember them. So her journey to *find herself* begins.
I find this book really moving, warning: I cry easily, and I loved it.
It was quite unrealistic at some points but I still liked it.
I particularly liked the way it was written, it was a little too slow at the beginning but it becomes more and more interesting as you read.

Devo dire che avevo un’idea particolarmente sbagliata su questo libro.
Si, non è un libro che vi cambia la vita, non è un classico da leggere assolutamente ma è comunque un qualcosa di più di un chick lit su tacchi e vestiti.
La protagonista di questa storia è Melody, una donna mediocre che lavora come un’inserviente in una mensa ed ha un figlio diciottenne che ha avuto da adolescente.
Tutta la sua vita sembra mediocre, non c’è nulla di particolare o interessante nella sua vita.
Tutto cambia quando ha una strana esperienza con un ipnotista, inizia a ricordarsi molte cose strane sulla sua infanzia.
Nella vita di Melody ci sono state molte tragedie ma lei non ne ha memoria. Inizia così il suo viaggio per ritrovarli.
Ho trovato questo libro molto commovente, avviso:piango molto facilmente, e l’ho adorato.
In alcuni punti effettivamente è un po’ irrealistico ma per quanto mi riguarda ciò non toglie alla bellezza del libro.
Mi è piaciuto molto anche il modo in cui è scritto, un po’ lento all’inizio ma sempre più interessante e coinvolgente più si procede con la lettura.
Scusate ancora se vi ho messo un libro non reperibile in italiano, purtroppo io leggo principalmente in inglese e tanti libri che mi sono piaciuti non sono stati tradotti.
